Two-Day Capacity Development Programme on Public Procurement

Training and re-training of Procuring Entities (PEs) in the state is paramount to achieving compliance to the Public Procurement Law (PPL). Accordingly, the Acting Director General, Mr. Igonibo Thompson in his remarks during a two day capacity development programme organised by the Bureau for key officers in the PEs noted that, his administration is committed to guiding PEs through enlightenment programmes on the PPL to enable them deliver service to the people of Rivers State in line with the vision of the State Governor Barr. Nyesom Wike.

The two day capacity development programme covered “Fundamental Provisions of the Public Procurement Law”, “A Guide foe Effective implementation of the Public Procurement Law”, “Understanding Procurement Planning”, Type of Procurement Methods” and “Bid Preparation, Bid Opening & Bid Evaluation”.

Participant were drawn from the state Independent Electoral Commission, ICT department, Waste Management Agency, Signage Advertising Agency, Traditional Rulers Council, Road Maintenance Rehabilitation Agency, Office of the Governor of Special Project as well as the Traditional Rulers Council.

Similarly participant in their response stated that the development programme was a good window for understanding the PPL better especially the hands-on workshop on the Procurement Plan which gave them opportunity to be involved in the technical part of the plan. They also thanked the Mr. Igonibo Thompson, the Acting Director General and the presenters for the training, that, it would ensure transparency and efficiency in the contracting and procurement process in the state
