Small and MEDIUM Enterprises (SMEs) represent an increasing important sector of any economy and can be key drivers of its economic growth and employment. As a result of this, it was necessary to encourage and facilitate SMEs participation in public procurement procedures subject to the applications of the provisions of the Rivers State Public Procurement Law (PPL) of 2008.

Following, the RSBoPP recently organised training/workshop for the SMEs at the Human Capacity Development Centre of the Bureau.

The purpose of this training was to address the challenges that SMEs face in participating and winning contracts awarded by the Rivers State Government by providing solutions to how such challenges/barriers can be overcome by SMEs not only to participate in such contracts but also to be able to submit responsive bid that will lead to award of contracts in the state.

The training/workshop was attended by members of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) Rivers State Chapter. Representative of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Members of Computer Dealers Association in Rivers State, Members of Pillars Association Rivers State chapter.

The engagement opened the procurement space and addressed challenges hitherto faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in participating and winning contracts awarded by the Rivers State Government. The session provided solutions on how such challenges/barriers can be overcome by SMEs not only to participate in such contracts but also to be able to submit responsive bids that will lead to being awarded contracts in the State.

GUIDELINES ON THE CONDUCT OF PUBLIC PROCUREMENT ACTIVITIES

 BY MINISTRIES, DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES IN RIVERS STATE

  • Due to the imminent threat to lives posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and to ramp up the Nation’s capacity to address this crisis, Federal and State Governments had setup committees in response to the attendant effect of the pandemic, which included efforts by Public-Spirited Individuals and Corporate Organizations who made reasonable financial contributions to support the fight against this virus. The Rivers State Contractors Registration System (RCRS) is an online system that will maintain the database of particulars, classification and categorization of Contractors and Service Providers with the objective of improving the ease of doing business with the Government of Rivers State viz Ministries, Departments and Agencies including the 23 Local Government Councils: providing equal opportunities for all registered Contractors and Service Providers.

In view of the forgoing, the Rivers State Bureau on Public Procurement (RSBoPP) hereby invites qualified contractors and service providers doing or intending to do business with the Government of Rivers State to register in the RCRS via http://rcrs.rsbopp.rv.gov.ng
