OUR STORY

The Rivers State Bureau on Public Procurement is a regulatory agency created by the Rivers State Public Procurement Law, 2008. The Bureau is vested with the responsibility to regulate, monitor and oversee public procurement in Rivers State. Its key role is to ensure that the conduct of public procurement in the State follows laid down rules, is accountable, transparent and delivers value for money.

FUNCTIONS OF RSBOPP

As the regulatory authority responsible for monitoring and overseeing public procurements in Rivers State, the RSBoPP is mandated to discharge the following principal functions and exercise ancillary powers to ensure compliance thereto:

Formulate regulations, policies and guidelines for procurement and monitor the implementation thereof; Review procurement procedings and contracts awarded by PEs; Keep a database of contracts and contractors/ service providers in its procurement journal; Undertake regular procurement research/ surveys and audits; Prepare and update standard bidding/ contract documents; Organize training/ conferences/ seminars etc for procurement professionals in the State; Discourage fraudulent and unfair procurements and apply sanctions where necessary etc.
